Well another week down on the mission! It is very crazy to me to see how fast it is flying by. This week wasn't the most successful one on the mission but we tried our hardest. The best parts of the week would be that we prepared someone named Walter and he had his baptismal interview this week and passed! That was super good and also we have two baptisms planned for November. One for the 4th and the other probably on the 18th but we got the permission of both their parents as they are only 12 and 17. They where both references of Virginia. The activities this week went well. They both had good turn outs and we had quite a few investigators there.
We are focusing a lot right now on references because contacting hasn't worked at all in the past month. All the people that are progressing are references. We have been studying "Preach My Gospel" a lot and it teaches us a lot on how to work with the members. We have come up with the conclusion that us a missionaries, know how to work with the ward and branches, but they don't know how to work with us. We came up with the idea to give Preach my Gospels to all of the leaders and invite them to read part of chapter 9 and all of chapter 13 so they can understand better how to work with us and us with them so we can baptize many more and retain these convert baptisms. We will be having branch council next Sunday & we will cover that.
The other missionaries had a baptism on Saturday that went very well. We had a couple investigators there and everything went pretty smooth. Something we always do while we wait for the people to change is put videos of the church. The people hear aren't that good at singing and it drives the Spirit away so the videos do much better.
The hardest part of this week were some people from other churches that didn't want to know more about Christ. We contacted them with this special way using the Book of Mormon sharing a scripture talking about Christ. Then we asked them if they wanted to learn more about what Christ said here in the Americas?
They said no strongly and say it isn't the word of God and many other lies. Lets just say my patients grew that day and may have lost it on one guy but hey, at least I didn't loose it on two!
The mission is very hard, but very rewarding. I am learning so much each day and I have been doing this for 14 months! I know that God lives and he loves us so much and has given us the way to return to Him but sometimes people love the Bible more than their God. That is something hard for me but I can't imagine how sad it is for God to see that. My invitation is make sure we all live up to our divine potential! God has a grand path before you! Make sure you take it!
Love,
Elder Wolfe
